An excellent concept, deep plots, fast paced and a bit twisted at times. Definitely goes beyond any typical fantasy writing. The primary character Richard goes from being a naive woodsman to the central character of the book. Initially guided by Zed the wizard he soon separates with the beauty Kahlan on his quest with the Sword of Truth. In the end he banishes the evil Darken Rahl but not before various methods of torture by Mistress Denna. While the story is captivating what holds this book back is Goodkind's ability to write.
